Choosing the DiSC Facilitator Report and/or DiSC Group Culture Report

Would you like to compile the DiSC results of your team?

Inscape Publishing has developed two DiSC Group Reports to help you analyze your team. These reports can be created after two or more people have completed the DiSC Classic 2.0 Online Report or the DiSC General Characteristics Online Report. Use the contents below to determine which report best suits the purpose of your upcoming DiSC session.

DiSC Group Culture Report

The DiSC Group Culture Report was developed to help you explore the DiSC style, or culture, of a group. Once you know the culture — its characteristics, advantages, and drawbacks — you're better prepared to open meaningful discussions with group members in a group setting or one-on-one.

The DiSC Group Culture Report provides a breakdown of your group members by DiSC style and Classical Pattern distribution, advantages and drawbacks of the culture in your group, and other issues to consider.

Unique Characteristics:
  • The DiSC Group Culture Report was designed for beginner DiSC learners.
  • This DiSC report does not include participant names, which allows for a safe jumping-off point to discuss your group’s culture.
DiSC Facilitator Report

The DiSC Facilitator Report is designed to help you better understand the diversity of interpersonal styles within your group so that you can help participants use their DiSC knowledge most effectively. The DiSC Facilitator Report provides a composite of your group's DiSC styles, allowing you to quickly and easily build customized group reports using data from DiSC Classic 2.0 or DiSC General Characteristics.

The DiSC Facilitator Report helps you identify the DiSC styles of both individual group members and the group itself.

Unique Characteristics:
  • The DiSC Facilitator Report was designed with the DiSC Trainer in mind. Language style and report contents are written for someone who is more familiar with DiSC.
  • This DiSC report includes names and each group members' DiSC Graph to help you facilitate your DiSC training session.
  • This report allows you to compare your group distribution in the four styles against the general population.

When to Use DiSC Group Reports:

  • When your focus is team development
  • When you want to see the similarities and differences of group members' styles
  • When you want to improve the group's understanding of each other, address conflicts in the group, or examine the group culture
  • When you want to help group members understand how they fit into the culture of the group

Note: The DiSC Group Reports can include an unlimited number of participants.

Send DiSC Profiles Online with an EPIC Account

If you are seeking a convenient, easy way to manage your DiSC Profile training and coaching, an EPIC Account is a great solution!

EPIC (Electronic Profile Information Center) is an online platform that provides a simple way to deliver our most advanced online learning instruments via the Internet.

EPIC Gives You More Options!

  • Choose from over 40 profiles and group reports (including DiSC, listening, time management, team building, sales, management, and customer service focused assessments) within your EPIC Account.
  • Send profiles in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Chinese, etc.
  • Choose the report options you want: whether or not you would like the participant to view his/her own report, if you would like to include all graphs, the response style, etc.
  • Customize the DiSC Profile notifications by including deadlines, seminar information, etc.

3 Key Benefits of Administering DiSC and other Learning Assessments via EPIC:

  • Increased Productivity. The EPIC system takes care of scoring the profiles, saving time and increasing accuracy. You can quickly determine whether the participants have completed the assessment.
  • Gain Administrative Control. You can issue profiles to anyone in the world via email, making the platform ideal for the needs of multi-location businesses. You can view, print, or email completed reports, as the system maintains an archive of completed profiles.

DiSC Training Reinforcement

Using DiSC training tools after your participants have completed the DiSC Profile will help them remember the techniques you taught, and will reinforce DiSC learning in the organization.

One DiSC tool you can easily administer via email is the Reinforcing Your Understanding of Behavioral Styles Online Course. This DiSC-based course can be completed at the participant's own pace, and can be taken as frequently as necessary for 1 year.

Participants taking the online course will learn how to recognize DiSC behavioral styles by listening to the conversational style of others. For example, if the person asks a lot of "why" questions and takes time to think about what he is saying, most likely he has a high C behavioral style. Once you know the DiSC behavioral style, you can easily adapt your own behavior to more effectively communicate with others.

Participants will also learn to be aware of their behavioral style, and have strategies for adapting their DiSC behavioral style depending on the specific situation.

The course finishes by allowing participants to test their abilities. The participant will hear a person describing a situation. Her manner of speaking and the words that she chooses will indicate her behavioral style. Once the course participant chooses the correct behavioral style, he/she must choose the most appropriate way to deal with the situation.

View testimonials from our online course clients.

DiSC Paper Profiles vs. DiSC Online Profiles

If you are interested in using the DiSC Profile within your organization, there is one basic thought to consider: would you like participants to complete the DiSC Paper Profile or the DiSC Online Profile? Both will get you to the same destinations (enhanced communication, conflict resolution, better teams, etc), but there are a few main differences. Once you understand the differences and similarities, you can more easily choose the best profile for your situation.

The DiSC Classic Paper Profile

This is the original DiSC Profile. As a self-scoring assessment, the DiSC Paper Profile will take approximately 30 minutes to complete the questionnaire portion and score the graphs. Make sure your training session is long enough to accommodate this.

Also keep in mind that the DiSC Paper Profiles will need to be shipped to you (we can send your profiles via Next Day or Second Day Air if you are in a bind).

DiSC Paper Profile sections include:
  • DiSC Graphs I, II, and III
  • General highlights of each DiSC style
  • Intensity Index
  • All DiSC Classic Profile Patterns

Choose the DiSC Classic Paper Profile when:

  • The Internet is not readily accessible to your participants
  • You only want standard descriptions of DiSC styles and patterns
  • Trust is low among your participants, to give them more control over their DiSC reports
  • You want to show your participants how their DiSC scores are derived

DiSC Classic 2.0 Online Profile

The online DiSC profile can be sent to you 30 minutes after we receive your order during regular business hours. The DiSC Online Profile is sent via email to you or directly to your participants. The questionnaire is completed online, and the results are calculated electronically for you. As a trainer, you can control whether or not the participant can view his/her own results. Many of our clients choose to print the DiSC reports out themselves and bring them to the training session.

The DiSC Classic 2.0 includes many enhancements. For example, you have the ability to add supplemental reports, which will provide more information on the participant's behavior in a sales, team, or management environment.

Plus, you can easily manage your DiSC Online Profiles with an EPIC Account.

DiSC Online Profile sections include:

  • DiSC Graph
  • Explanation of your highest DiSC style(s)
  • Intensity Index
  • Interpretation of each highlighted word in your Intensity Index
  • Your narrative DiSC Classical Profile Pattern (Your Motivation, Your Work Habits, and Insights for You)
  • The DiSC model
  • General highlights of each DiSC style
  • All DiSC Classic Profile Patterns

Choose the DiSC 2.0 Online Profile when:

  • The Internet is readily accessible to your participants
  • You want personalized descriptions of each participant's DiSC style and pattern in addition to standard descriptions
  • You want a pool of descriptive words that are positive in tone
  • You want to see the participant reports before the training
  • You do not have enough time to administer the DiSC profile during training

Our DiSC Experts are available to help you determine which assessment is best for you. Feel free to call our office at 800.278.1292.

DiSC Training Exercise from Linda Houts

Linda Houts, Certified DiSC Master Trainer hosted last Thursday's A Taste of DiSC teleseminar. After walking attendees through their DiSC report, Linda offered the following DiSC Training Exercise:

Exercises using the Intensity Index

I am often asked how to keep the understandings and insights from a DiSC session fresh and useful in the day-to-day setting. It is important that employees get to know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and DiSC language helps with that. These exercises can be used in a one-on-one or group/team setting. They can also be used during the first ten minutes of a staff meeting if your objective is team building or developing more camaraderie. I am going to give you 2 different exercises that use the Intensity Index. Please turn to pages 5-9 (in the DiSC Classic 2.0) while I describe a couple of activities you can use.

Activity 1. Remember that page 5 is the index itself and pages 6-9 describe those words or phrases that are highlighted in each style category. Chose 2 words from each style or focus on your highest style depending on how much time you want to allow. Talk with others about how those strengths contribute to your success as a manager/team member/ or job specific. The second step is to discuss overuses for those same words. Overuses are when we allow it to become a weakness or liability. When has this same behavior gotten you into trouble with others?

This activity is described in the Everything DiSC Facilitation System for any of you who have it or are looking for a great program for understanding all the styles also with many applications.

Activity 2. Back to page 5. Focus on your situation – business/department goals, teamwork, managing others etc. Look at all the words in the Intensity Index across all styles. What behaviors are important to success in the focus you chose? Discuss with others how that behavior is important. Also discuss what it would take for you to adapt to that behavior. What stretches (do more of) will you need to make as well as what possible ways might you need to redirect do less of) your behavior? This is a particularly helpful discussion to help teams and managers identify what behaviors are needed for success given the business and departmental goals. The discussion is the most important part of this activity. Openness is fostered.

Using the DiSC Profile for Hiring

An article by Management-Issues says that assessments are a vital part of the hiring process:

The development of talent pools, active communication with prospects and personality assessments were also vital in this tough, competitive market.

Employers who did not follow this advice would pay a high price, the compant warned, with the cost of turnover at 1.5 times that of salary and some companies reporting a six-fold expenditure above salary when hidden costs such as "chain reaction" turnover and lost productivity are factored in."

Full article: http://www.management-issues.com/2006/9/28/research/younger-workers-benefit-from-departure-of-baby-boomers.asp

The DiSC Profile is commonly used by our clients for hiring purposes. The online DiSC assessment has made this even easier because HR professionals can send the DiSC assessment to a candidate's email address. The candidate typically fills out the DiSC profile before or after the interview. Then, the HR professional can view the candidate's behavioral style and make comparisons to the position.

Recommended DiSC Tools to Use:

  • DiSC General Characteristics: is an in-depth personal behavior assessment. By administering the General Characteristics Report to potential employees, you will obtain a broad range of the individual’s behavioral characteristics, including behavioral strengths and weaknesses, motivating and demotivating factors, and management and selling styles.
  • DiSC Role Behavior Analysis: allows you to profile the job or role, and tells you how the role needs to be performed regardless of who is performing the role. Depending on your priorities, you can profile a part of a job, such as coach, as part of a broader role of manager, or complete the assessment for the role of manager.
  • DiSC Comparison Reports: Assesses how well the participant’s behaviors match the requirements of the role.

For more information on how to use these 3 assessments, visit our website at: http://www.resourcesunlimited.com/shop/DiSC_for_Hiring_Reports.asp

Featured DiSC Training Exercise with QuikDiSC Cards

Appreciating Strengths Exercise: Refer to Insight Module 5-2 in the Everything DiSC Facilitation System

When to use this exercise: At the end of a DiSC Training Session or in a follow-up session.

Purpose of the Exercise: To provide DiSC-based feedback between workshop participants. This exercise gives the learners an opportunity to learn what DiSC behaviors they have displayed during the training. This exercise is particularly valuable because it enables participants to learn whether others perceive their DiSC style to be similar to one’s own self-perception.

Directions:
  1. Place one deck of QuikDiSC cards in the center of each table group (face up).
  2. Ask each participant to select one card for each participant at the table. The card selected for each participant describes the behavior exhibited by that participant during the training session. (For example, “expressive.”)
  3. Each participant at the table explains why the selected card (e.g., “expressive”) represents the person.

More about the QuikDiSC Cards: Visit http://www.resourcesunlimited.com/shop/QuikDiSC.asp

Questions for DiSC Trainers:

  • Have you used this exercise in your DiSC Training session?
  • Did you modify any part of the exercise?
  • How would you modify this exercise for a particular group?
